Why these five formats?

PNG is the lossless baseline. JPEG is the legacy compatibility story. WebP is the current web standard. AVIF is the flagship next-gen codec. JXL reaches further still. Each has a different role — the only way to know which wins for your specific image is a real measurement.

Doesn't Safari lack AVIF encoding?

Native yes, but this tool falls back to jsquash (WASM) for AVIF on Safari so you still get output. JXL is the inverse — Safari is currently the only browser with native JXL encode.

Do you show PSNR / SSIM quality metrics?

Phase 2 ships file size + encode time only. Objective quality metrics land in Phase 3.

Batch comparison?

Phase 2 is single-image. Multi-image grid comparison is on the Phase 3 roadmap.
