Why 472×354?

It's the exact pixel count for a JIS Z 8500 résumé photo (40×30 mm at 300 dpi). Japanese government portals and enterprise HR systems ask for this size verbatim.

When do I need 600×450?

Mynavi, Rikunabi, Indeed, and most Japanese job boards use 600×450 for their web-upload field. Slightly larger than JIS, optimized for on-screen viewing.

Which background color should I pick?

White (#FFFFFF) is universal, best for office / government roles. Interview blue (#7BB6DD) mirrors the photo-booth default and reads as trustworthy. Light gray (#E8E8E8) is modern and works for tech / creative industries.

Is the face auto-centered?

Phase 1b does a plain center crop. Pre-crop so your face sits in the upper third, with head-to-chin at 70–80% of frame height. Phase 2 adds MediaPipe face detection for automatic alignment.
